Square Root Multiples calculator

This calculator function gives you the square root multiples in price from a specific high or low, as well as the square root multiples in time from any starting price price and date.

If you want to calculate square root multiples in price from the SPX 5/2/11 1370.58 high, down to a limit of your choice, you would input the Start Date, Value, and for this example I used a Limit of 1025. The calculator function gives you the square root of 1370.58 [37.02], and then it subtracts multiples of 37.02 from 1370.58 In this example, you see that the square root multiple at 1074.42 is right on the 10/4/11 1074.77 low, which is the most significant low since the 1370.58 high as of 1/24/11

The right side of the calculator enables you to calculate the square root multiples in time from a specific date, and for this example I started with the SPX 10/11/07 1576 bull market top. User inputs the Start Date, Value, Date Limit, and the calculator function gives you the Square Root multiple of 1370.58 which is 39.69.

One of the multiple dates fell on 3/14/09, and the bear market low was 666.79 on 3/6/09 [Fri]. The low close was 676.53 on 3/9/09, so excluding a weekend day, the square root multiple missed the actual low by 5 days and low close by 4. The bear market low in 2009 was the “mother of all symmetry”, and the square root multiple was just one piece of the total symmetry.
